ThanksGIVING – 5-A-Day-books

We are starting a 5 a day Books challenge from The Imagine Tree and will be posting our choices for the week every Wednesday. The books we choose will follow the seasons, our theme focus, or just something that has caught the girl’s imaginations.

This week:

The Giving Tree

A moving parable written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein, The Giving Tree explores the gift of giving and loving in return.

The Velveteen Rabbit

We may not have time to read this book everyday but I aim to read it through at least twice. Written by Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit strives to become ‘Real’ by being loved by his owner.

Sharing Time

Sharing Time is the book I will be reading with both girls. Sharing is giving of sorts and it is something Daisy and Rose are struggling with at the moment.

10 Fat Turkeys

A counting board book, 10 Fat Turkeys is a rhyming story about 10 silly turkeys. Perfect as we prepare a turkey for Thanksgiving.

Stone Soup

This beautiful picture book celebrates generosity with watercolour paintings that encourage reflection. A village that has forgotten how to share and give, is taught a gentle lesson by three traveling monks.
